Recruit, retain, recognize

Being a member of FCCLA gives an opportunity for students to turn into leaders. Lake Stevens FCCLA provides multiples opportunities throughout the year for members to travel to local, state, and national leadership conferences to attend workshops, meet new friends, and travel! We also support local program in Lake Stevens, like the Big Viking Little Viking Program where students at Lake Stevens High School can tutor at-risk elementary students. These are just some of the things that are included with our membership. Being a member of FCCLA can give you Unlimited Possibilities!

What does it mean to be a member?
What are STAR Events?

Students Taking Action with Recognition Events, otherwise known as STAR Events are competitions in which members present their project (based on the event the member chooses) to a panel of judges. Qualifying members can have the opportunity to compete at Nationals that usually takes place the first week of July! For more info click here!

Each year there are many events that members can go to, so long as our chapter adviser, Mrs. Hahn, is able to attend as well. Usually we will attend; Fall Regional Meeting that occurs in October /November; Regional STAR Events that occurs in January/February; Washington State Leadership Conference that occurs in March; and the National Leadership Conference that occurs during the first week of July.

Where do members get to travel?
Is there a dress code?

If you are traveling to an FCCLA Event, please remember that we follow the Washington FCCLA Dress code. Below you can find a guide on what members can wear at any FCCLA Event. Although we do have to follow a dress code, please don't be discouraged! We do have some FCCLA Dress Code clothing that can be checked out via our adviser. It is a first come, first serve basis.

How can I join?

Recruitment and retention efforts

This year one of our membership goals was to focus on recruiting new members at Cavelero Mid High, which has another FCCLA Chapter as well. Carlos and Lauren brought their "Road to Success" presentation, as well as hosting a club fair for 8th and 9th grade students.

Each year our chapter also utilizes certain events to spread the word about FCCLA! One of those events is the Sophomore Orientation Day, where incoming Sophomores get a sneak peak at high school.

We have also attended the Freshman Orientation, where incoming freshman had the opportunity to see the different clubs and organizations they could join in High School.

During FCCLA Week members set up booths at lunches to showcase the different projects our FCCLA members have made throughout the year. We also present in FACS classes at the beginning of the year to intice students to join LSHS FCCLA!

To join the Lake Stevens Chapter of the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America a prospective member must attend chapter meetings and pay yearly dues. These dues are collected in September at the beginning of the school year. For more information contact our adviser, Mrs. Kathy Hahn, at kathy_hahn@lkstevens.wednet.edu.
